JK Hirowaremashita Chapter 15

Still Bewildered

One week since beginning to live together with Asahina-san.

Aside from the other students watching me from a distance and several things becoming more extravagant, my life as a student hasn’t changed.

To begin with, I wasn’t very close to anyone.

Even if my distance from other classmates is enlarged, I’m not particularly troubled.

However, I’m still not used to the strange gazes cast at me.

That’s why, recently, as soon as the afterschool bell rings, I call Nana-san and return to Asahina-san’s home as if running away, while being showered with the surrounding’s gazes.

—Today, that didn’t come true.

Being entrusted with some chores by my homeroom teacher, it became later than I thought as I finished up.

「Hah… it’s already this late」

Looking at the clock hung in the classroom, I sigh.

Carrying the requested documents to the staff room for my teacher, I walk to the shoe cupboards while contacting Nana-san.

The voices of the sports clubs from the school field and the performances of the wind ensemble can be heard from the school grounds, brought by the blowing wind.

「I wonder, if I could have made friends if I were in a club…」

While muttering that, I come to the conclusion that it wasn’t possible.

To begin with, I was living alone. Since I wasn’t receiving any money from my relatives, I had to work multiple jobs, so I wouldn’t have had any energy to spare for anything else.

Thanks to Asahina-san, my money issues have gone away, and it’s definitely easier than before… however, I don’t feel any motivation to start something new.

Especially now that I’m in my junior year, perhaps I’m excessively thinking so.

「Really, everything has changed」

In one night, Asahina-san completely changed me.

She is willing to spoil me.

…But I wonder if it’s alright to continue being spoiled by her.

There’s no guarantee that I’ll be able to continue living like this. There may come a time when she gets tired of me and kicks me out. Asahina-san said not to worry about it, but I can’t help worrying.

After all, my current life is so fulfilled that I still wonder whether this is all a dream.

What should I do if the next time I wake up, nothing has changed and I’m still in my old apartment.

Even after living together with Asahina-san for a week, those worries haven’t disappeared. Rather, the more I experience this luxury, the stronger these feelings get.

「Why did Asahina-san, for me—」

Just as I embraced my doubt, the black car from before stopped before me.

「Azusa-sama, I’ve come to pick you up!」

Nana Asakura-san came out from the driver’s seat. She’s the one serving as my escort.

I heard this later, but, in fact, in her entire family, the Asakura family, she boasts the highest strength. Due to her actions and tone lacking formality, I heard that troubles didn’t settle down, but in terms of pure strength, she’s the most suitable as an escort.

Unlike her older sister, Shino-san, Nana-san has an innocent image. Maybe being close in age is a factor. She talks to me, not caring about our employer-employee status, bringing up fun stories as she drives me around to and from school.

「Good work today!」

「Thank you. But, um… please don’t talk in such a, loud voice…」

There are still students here at the school gate.

Feeling stings from their gazes, I wish that she’d lower her voice, while Nana-san looks at the gathered masses and opens her mouth.

「They’re pretty annoying with their glances. Shall I shut them up?」

「T-that’s no good!」

When I instantly raise my voice, Nana-san laughs.

「It’s just a joke. With something like that, I’d lose precious time with you. Besides, if I were to result to violence for such a trifling matter, my sister’d get mad at me.」

「Really, please don’t」

「Still, I can’t ignore the rude stares they’re giving you, Azusa-sama. Even though they aren’t being directed at me, it ticks me off. I do quite want to shut them up, but…」

「You can’t. Please do it peacefully」

「Azusa-sama is really kind. …Alright, I understand. If you say so, I shall abide by it」

Her carefree smile makes it unnecessarily scary.

I wonder why the Asakura family has pledged loyalty to Asahina-san like this.

It isn’t a mistake that Asahina-san did something in the past, but as for what, I can’t imagine. It’s surely something that common folk can’t even begin to imagine.

I’m interested, but I don’t want to ask.

That’s why, for now, I keep quiet without prying.

「…let’s return now. I have to return and begin preparations for dinner, after all」

「On the way, shall we drop by somewhere? It’d be troubling if you were out of any ingredients」

「Certainly… then, please. There are some ingredients that might run out today, so there’s no harm in stocking up」

(TL note: No author note this time, but still go and support the author~!

I’m not sure whether I’ve already mentioned anything about this, but English is rather difficult in expressing honorific language found in Japanese. If I failed in expressing that in my translation, just keep in mind that Nana is generally friendly in her way of speaking, while other characters such as Tachibana-san and Shino-san, tend to speak more formally.

Also, just a small note, high school in Japan is only three years, so Azusa is a second year student, which roughly equates to America’s junior year of high school (third year of four). Did I need to mention this?

Now then, that’s it for today. Check back tomorrow for more content~)
